Through Promoting Education in The U.S., American Corner UMY Brought Visitors to Get Know in Depth American Cultures

On 16 September 2019, U.S Embassy Jakarta held 2019 U.S. Graduate Fairs at Marriott Hotel, Yogyakarta. This exhibition collaborated with ten reputable universities and consultancy institutions in the U.S. It was aimed to facilitate the information on postgraduate study in the United States. 

The event held from 2:00 to 5:30 pm with the opening speech by EducationUSA and LPDP representatives and mini-workshops. The workshops, in general, discussed writing a strong statement of the personal essay, building an effective CV for graduate school application, scholarship application and applying for a U.S. student visa.

Muhammad Iqbal, as an EducationUSA Advisor of U.S. Embassy Jakarta, revealed, “Our goal is to promote the American education to students around the world by offering accurate and comprehensive information. For those of you who want to study in the U.S., many scholarships provide prestigious and full scholarships recently, so prepare yourself ‘fasten your belt’ and find the scholarship that suits you.”

Furthermore, EducationUSA who charged as the project manager of the event is a platform under the U.S. Embassy which guides hundreds of students over 150 countries, including Indonesia.

Some universities participated in this exhibition, namely: Pennsylvania University, Rhode Island University, Colorado State University, Alabama University, George Washington University, Northeastern University, etc. Besides, American Corner UMY also received the opportunity to introduce the American cultures there. The students interested in coming to the booth to get to know-in-depth about their annual and daily programs during the event. It became a prospective step for American Corner UMY to expand American issues and acquainted by university students in Jogjakarta. (af)
