STRENGTHENING THE COOPERATION, UMY’S OFFICIALS BOUND TO THAILAND’S 3 HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO DISSEMINATE ITS SCHOLARSHIP

Thailand (27-28/6/2019). Finished the mission to disseminate the scholarship in Malaysia’s universities, UMY’s officials left for Thailand for the next promotions. Director of International Relations Office-Yordan Gunawan, Director of Administrative Cooperation-Farindira Vesti Rahmasari, and two staffs namely Ricki Fernando and Ayu Naqsabandiyah visited Bangkok’s Thammasat University (TU) on June 27th, 2019 as Thailand’s UMY Scholarship promotion kick-off. Warmly welcomed by the Assistant Vice Rector for International Relations and the staffs, TU had its interest on the scholarship and enthusiastically would disseminate it to the faculties. Out of the promotion agenda, both TU and UMY have agreed to expand the cooperation to other faculties.

Still, in Bangkok, UMY’s officials moved out to visit National Institute Development and Administrative (NIDA). The team was welcomed by the NIDA’s President himself, Prof. Dr. Kamphol Panyagometh. Present with him was the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs-Prof. Dr. Nada Chunsom, the Dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration-Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boon-anan Phinaitrup and the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs-Awae Masae, Ph.D. NIDA has its interest in arranging a Double-Degree agreement between the NIDA’s School of Public Administration and Master of Governmental Science of UMY, Student Exchange for Master Degree, Research Collaboration, and Joint-Degree 4+1 for UMY (4 years for Bachelor degree + 1 Year for Master degree, in which UMY has no Master Degree courses). Besides, the two Universities also agreed to expand the cooperation to another academic activity such Visiting Professor on Governmental Sciences, Disaster Management, and Islamic Economic and Visiting Fellow scheme. Ended the meeting, NIDA wishes UMY to be able to join in the upcoming Summer Camp in NIDA next year.

Day has passed, UMY’s officials continued the mission to the next day by visiting Mahidol University. Welcomed by the Director of International Relations Division-Wanpimon Senapadpakorn and 2 staffs, the meeting went well with a conclusion to expand the cooperation into Student Exchange, Staff Exchange, and Joint Research. Beside of that, a waived fee offer given to UMY for the upcoming inbound student at Mahidol that will be involved in the Sawadee Thailand Summer Course under the theme “Culture and Food Industry”. As both Universities share the same value of “developing knowledge and technology for the benefit of mankind, Mahidol wishes to build strong reciprocal cooperation with UMY to realize the value. Mahidol also will give its hand to disseminate the Scholarship in the university.
