Initiating close cooperation in education is a fundamental element for making a collaboration.  On (28/3) Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta with Italian embassy will commit regarding the collaboration projects for International students especially Italy citizens that want to study at UMY.

Before the meeting with the Embassy of Italy, Eko Priyo Purnomo, M.Res., Ph.D as the Executive Director of Cooperation and International Affairs (CIA) UMY has the occasion of the dialogue on developments and opportunities offered by UMY. There are two things that offered to Italian government, the first scholarship for bachelor’s, masters and Ph.D as student mobility programs. Second, the visiting fellow that offered to scholar and lecture from Italy to come to UMY. The meeting and discussion gathered Counsellor Giovanni Brignone as Deputy Head of Mission and Head of the Economic & Commercial Section of the Embassy of Italy, Dr. Titin Purwaningsih., M.Si as the Dean Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, Head Department of International Relations, Dr. Nur Azizah, M.Si, Director of International Program of International Relations (IPIREL), and dr. Farindira as Head of Domestic Cooperation and Administration.

Counsellor Giovanni Brignone stated that the establishment of opportunity for getting the UMY’s scholarship program, make the great chance for Italian as well as to make some course exchange program with some universities in Italy. There is some focus within the universities such as scientific, engineering, architecture, design and agriculture that will be great that works throughout collaboration. In principles, public and private services as the priority in the state, and more than 100 universities are work with companies in the field of medicines, for increasing medical services that profits for health services.

He pointed out that UMY offers excellent opportunities for research collaborations and scholarship program rare and only a few exist in Italy. Besides, A key element of the strategic approach is a whole of government effort to facilitate self-forwarding information to the universities and related institution.

Recognizing that making collaboration are engines of future growth and prosperity, particular emphasis is being given to cooperation in these areas. This work involves the exchange of knowledge and innovations through collaboration activity.

After having a meeting with Cooperation and International Affairs, Counsellor Giovanni Brignone gives speech at the public lecture on the topic of “Italy and Indonesia a Strategic Partnership for a Shared Future”. (agt, mmi)
