UMY Summer School is Coming Again, Joined by more than 880 Participants!

July is coming back again. This time, one of the most anticipated agendas of the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta has returned, And now is bigger than ever. More than 880 Participants from 42 countries are joined and divided into 16 focals from across all faculty in UMY.

On (15/07) Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta held an opening ceremony for this agenda. This year’s summer school is quite special because UMY also received a grant from Baznas and Lazismu for Muhammadiyah Scholarship for Palestinian Students to Study in Indonesia,

a total of 23 Palestinian Students receiving this grant are divided into 4 Muhammadiyah Universities such as Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar.

This opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Adi Hidayat from Quantum Akhiyar Institute and one of the most remarkable preachers in Indonesia, and other important officials such Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Prof. Gunawan Budiyanto. Chairman of Central Board of Muhammadiyah. Prof. Syafiq Mughni, Ambassador of Palestine for Indonesia, His Excellency Dr Zuhair Al Shun, Achmad Sudrajat from Baznas and Dr Mahli Zainnudin Tago from LazizMU.

In his remarks, Prof. Syafiq Mughni said that this event is a chance for Muhammadiyah and Indonesia to serve the Ummah, especially our Palestinian friends who have suffered for a long time. In addition to upholding justice, mutual respect, and regard for human beings, it is also a step toward discovering God’s message about how world peace should be created. But there can be no peace unless justice is served. These two things lay the cornerstone of Muhammadiyah’s global humanitarian mission.
