UMAM Meets with UMY to Explore Possible Collaboration
Being the first Muhammadiyah university outside of Indonesia, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM) was an early pioneer in promoting Muhammadiyah educational institutions around the globe.
On November 28, UMAM was warmly greeted by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) in the Meeting Room Café 1912. Both UMY and UMAM, as part of the Muhammadiyah family, looked forward to a number of potential collaborations that would place an emphasis on Islamic values. Joint degrees, community service, research, and publication are some academic pursuits that could bring more benefit to them.
The primary focus of collaboration between UMY and UMAM is anticipated to be on departments or subjects that are similar. Additionally, both universities stand to benefit from the fact that UMY’s master’s and doctoral degrees require publishing in international journals with researchers from across the world. The next thing to think about is community work by students or lecturers, as it might help spread dakwah to more people and improve promotion.
Exchanging souvenirs and photo sessions marked a positive conclusion to the visitation. The leaders of UMY and UMAM have both stated their desire to continue working together to improve the standard of education.
