This year marks the 30th anniversary of Ukraine-Indonesia diplomatic relations. Both countries have maintained positive relations to this day. To build a better understanding of Ukraine, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Indonesia Dr. Vasyl Hamianin visited Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Thursday (22/9).

Dr. Vasyl Hamianin was greeted warmly upon his arrival at UMY. Then continue to give a short lecture for the public lecture at UMY. Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto M.P., IPM., the Rector of UMY opened the public lecture by giving a speech.

Gunawan expressed sincere hope that the Ukraine crisis would be resolved soon in his speech. “Today’s public lecture is UMY’s small contribution to Ukraine’s support.”

Under the theme “The Place of Ukraine in Geopolitics Transformations”, the public lecture was attended by 126 UMY students and was held at the AR Fachruddin B Building. The students showed their enthusiasm for the public lecture by asking a variety of questions.

It is hoped that Dr. Vasyl Hamianin’s visit and public lecture will raise students’ as well as the Indonesian people’s awareness and understanding of Ukraine’s geopolitical position during this transformational period.
