Along with the change of semesters, the UMY Student Exchange Program resumed with a wider range of foreign university destinations. The Student Exchange Program is a program that UMY regularly conducts to become a young and global university while also providing an excellent chance for UMY students to get experience studying abroad.

A “Pre-Departure Student Exchange” is held before the selected students depart for their destination. Which is intended to make sure they are well-prepared for student exchange. The event was filled with information about living abroad, such as how to adjust to a new environment and other things that are considered essential for life in another country. UMY is preparing to send 116 students to six different countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Spain, and Poland, according to the “Pre-Departure Student Exchange” conducted last Saturday at the AR Fachruddin A Building.

Fitri Arofiati, S.Kep., Ns., MAN., PhD., Head of the Cooperation and International Affairs UMY, highlighted in her remarks that being selected to participate in student exchange was a valuable experience. “Not all students have the chance and are capable of maximizing this opportunity, nor can all students have the courage to attempt to improve themselves and socialize with fellow students overseas. It could be a historical record in your life.” Following the remarks, the event moved on to the first material presentation, titled “Motivation and Adapting Abroad,” given by Imam Mahdi, S.IP., MA., Ph.D. (c). The discussion then proceeded to “Becoming a Muslim Abroad,” delivered by Moch. Iqbal, M.A. Ph. D. (c).

Aside from that, Idham Badruzaman, S.IP., M.A., Ph.D.’s presentation on “Mission to Promote Indonesia and UMY Abroad” was the final material explained. The “Pre-Departure Student Exchange” series of events concluded with presentations from each group of students on the promotion plans for Indonesia and UMY Abroad. Therefore, students who participate in the event are expected to be prepared to participate in student exchange at the destination university.
