The University of Bradford, the United Kingdom provides financial assistance through the Alan Turing Program to send students around the world, including Australia, Cambodia, Gambia, Ghana, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Nepal, Oman, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tanzania, USA, Vietnam, and Zambia. In Indonesia itself, the campus that is the destination is the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.

As information, this scholarship scheme allows flexibility to students and covers living expenses and travel, visa, and insurance costs for students taking international placements abroad.

One of the students who were present in Indonesia, Anisha Samantara, said that she is the first Bradford student who attended UMY with the help of the Alan Turing scheme. “The grant has given me the opportunity to do many activities and experiences I’ve never had the chance to do in the UK. It just takes the pressure off me in terms of financing, especially as a student who has moved away from his whole ordinary life. The Turing grant gave me the freedom to explore and experience.”, Anisha said.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and International Affairs of UMY, Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi emphasized that the arrival of 10 Bradford University students was a tangible manifestation of the hard work of the academic community in realizing internationalization at UMY itself. “There will be another 6 students from Bradford who will also stay in UMY, next month”, Nurmandi added.
