2021 ICCTP GATHERS PEACEBUILDING SCHOLARS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD!

Violent conflict leaves in its wake human carnage, battered lives, economic turmoil, social upheaval, and ecological calamity. These are the immediate and most visible effects, while less evident are the long-term consequences of deeply divided, polarized and volatile societies. While conflict itself is a natural and normal aspect of living in an increasingly diverse, ever-changing, and plural society – where not everyone shares the same aspiration or worldview – it is imperative to ensure that when it occurs it does not escalate into violent forms of expression.

An international and interdisciplinary team of scholars, researchers, and practitioners will enable participants to enhance their knowledge and understanding on conflict transformation, dialogue, reconciliation, and peacebuilding (via education, media, nonviolent communication, community engagement and policy intervention) through the sharing of ideas, experiences, and practices. The course’s innovation also lies in that it covers relatively new approaches, such as creative forms of dialogue, local and traditional forms of conflict transformation, peace psychology, and peace ecology.
