Consulate General of The Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah Visit UMY to Discuss Possible Collaborations

On Monday (24/10), the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah visit UMY and proceeded to discuss future partnerships as well as presented a public lecture at the AR Fachruddin A Building.

Drs. Eko Hartono, MPP., Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah, delivered a presentation to International Relations Students UMY on the subject of “The Transformation of Saudi Arabia under Mohammed Bin Salman.” The public talk was followed by a round of questions and answers. The conversation then moved on to a meeting with the UMY executive board.

Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 20 between UMY and the Consulate General of The Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah, a more thorough conversation was held there. The discussion with the UMY executives’ board focused on potential actions that could enhance each other’s qualities. The Indonesian diaspora in Jeddah might be given scholarships to attend UMY, and UMY students could do research or complete an internship at the Consulate General of The Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah.

Such cooperation is also hoped to be a way to connect UMY with universities in Jeddah. Additionally, this collaboration will deepen the bonds between UMY and the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah.
