Fifteen students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta have been selected for the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) 2021. The students awarded by IISMA will attend lectures for one semester in top Universities from various countries, namely United States, England, Turkey, Spain, South Korea, Italy, Poland, and Hungary.

Yordan Gunawan, Head of UMY International Relations Office, said that 50 students applied to this program and had to go through strict administrative screening stage at the university which students obligated to have a valid English certificate with a minimum TOEFL ITP score of 550 or IELTS 6 or iBT 80 and GPA above 3.5

“27 out of 50 students passed the administration for further interviews from the Ministry and given interview training by UMY International Relations Office. The result has been announced on 14 June that IISMA has awarded 15 out of 27 students registered,” he said.

Furthermore, Yordan hoped that UMY could make IISMA an annual program. “This month, we will begin managing all UMY students with English Proficiency Certificate around 550 for TOEFL and 3.5 for their GPA. Thus, those who meet the criteria will gladly be fostered or trained by UMY as applicants for IISMA in the following years,” he concluded.
