Establishing collaborative partnerships with foreign universities is a fundamental aspect of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta’s (UMY) effective internationalization initiative. Thus, a number of UMY representatives went on visits to universities throughout Thailand. Throughout the visits, comprehensive dialogues were held with the aim of fostering solid relations between the universities in Thailand and UMY.

In Thailand, UMY Alumni accompanied UMY Delegates on a visit to Fatoni University, Yala Rajabat University, Prince of Songkla University, and Boromarajonani College of Nursing.

Fatoni University expressed its interest in Muhammadiyah and, through a partnership with UMY, expects to gain knowledge about the organization. Yala Rajabat University, similar to Fattoni University, hopes to understand more about Muhammadiyah and anticipates the possibility of a research collaboration. On the other hand, the Prince of Songkla University emphasized upon the potential for collaboration related to principles of higher education, including but not limited to staff exchange, collaborative conferences, and community service. Boromarajonani College of Nursing, similar to the other institutions, engaged in discussions with the UMY delegation regarding a number of prospective collaborations that might develop in the near future. These collaborations covered research funding, guest lectures, and scholarship opportunities.

This visit is hopefully become an important step towards fostering additional collaboration and improving the quality of education in both Indonesia and Thailand. Moreover, UMY will always be open to any potential collaboration with any universities in Thailand.
