A total of 20 Palestinian students received scholarships from the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas RI), Muhammadiyah Amil Zakat Institution (Lazismu), Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development through the donation of Ma’had Islam Rafiatul Akhyar (MIRA) led by Ustadz Adi Hidayat (UAH) to study for two months at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).

Yordan Gunawan, as the Head of the International Affairs Office of UMY, expressed his gratitude for the trust given to the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta to accept the 20 participants. “One of the means to build peace is to improve the quality of its human resources,” he explained. With this endeavour, there are two things that can be learned in the long term, namely the spread of Rahmatan Lil Alamin’s Islamic values.
Palestinian Ambassador, H.E. Dr. Zuhair Al Shun expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given by the parties involved in this program. “I hope that this program can improve good relations between Indonesia and Palestine. Many Palestinian students are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Health,” he concluded. He hopes that in the future there will be more cooperation between Palestine and Indonesia.

Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad, MA as the Chairperson of the National Baznas, explained that the Palestinian problem is a problem that will never end. However, with the support of all parties, Palestine can gain independence and glory in the future. “Among the efforts to get it, of course, is by building the people. The existence of this program is an effort to provide better education for the Palestinian people,” he concluded. Prof. Achmad also thanked the Quantum Akhyar Institute led by Ustadz Adi Hidayah for the assistance that had been given.
The funds to be provided are in the form of education funds, living costs, bridging courses, initial arrival fees, airline tickets, health insurance funds, Indonesian visas issuance, PCR tests, and quarantine procedures.
