Job Description:

IRO Buddies Programs is designed to assist new international students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta with the challenges associated with the early stage of their university experience. We believe that current students can help new international students by sharing experiences, providing insights into university life, as well as responding to questions and concerns

Your role as buddy is to:

1. Welcome new international students to UMY
2. Commit a minimum of 12 hours/day during the 1^st semester of international students at UMY
3. Deliver ongoing social and geographic support to International students through peer relationships
4. Increase knowledge, awareness, and accessibility of the various university services
5. Provide support and assistance to new International students

Reporting relationship

Buddies will be supported by IRO staff, who in turn report to Office of International Affairs.  Team IRO will undertake the development, coordination and deployment of Buddy Training and the International Orientation period (Induction)

Selection Criteria

1. Effective oral communication skills
2. Good English in Oral and Writing
3. TOEFL Score 450 or IELST 5.0
4. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
5. Established non-judgemental, respectful and empathetic behaviour
6. Interest in international student experiences and cross-cultural activities
