Social Cultural Visit Visa/Visa Kunjungan Sosial Budaya (VKSB)

For an international student who wishes to study at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta is recommended to apply Social Cultural Visit Visa /Visa Kunjungan Sosial Budaya (VKSB) issued by the Indonesian Embassy or consulates in their respective countries. VKSB is given only for two (2) months and may be extended up to six (6) months.

 

Extension Procedures of Social Cultural Visit Visa/Visa Kunjungan Sosial Budaya (VKSB)

VKSB is given only for sixty (60) valid days from the date the student arrived in Indonesia and it should be extended every month. The maximum visa duration is six (6) months. For VKSB extension application, students are required to submit Certificate / Recommendations from the study signed by the Officer of Institution where they study. Their VKSB Extension is issued at the Immigration local Office.

 

Conversion Procedures of VKSB to Limited Stay Permit/KITAS

Conversion is the change in status from VKSB to KITAS and can only be arranged at the Immigration Office in Jakarta through regional Immigration Office.

In order to apply for Limited Stay Permit/KITAS, a Study Permit from the Ministry of National Education of The Republic of Indonesia is required. The Study Permit is required in order to issue visa authorization from the Immigration Office in Indonesia. To get a Study Permit, the students need to submit the following documents to Directorate of Higher Education through Office of International Affairs:

  • Certificate / Recommendation from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta
  • Photocopy of passport (all pages, including pages VKSB extension).
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Letter of Statement (students will not work and not join any political activities while studying in Indonesia)
  • Photographs 3×4 and 4×6 (4 pieces each, red background)
  • Health Certificate
  • Photocopy of ID card
  • Photocopy of Bank account last 3 months
  • High School Diploma and transcript

Conversion decree issued by the Central Immigration Office will be sent to the student for the purpose of KITAS application.

 

Limited Stay Permit/KITAS Application

Limited Stay Permit/KITAS application is managed by the student himself/herself at the local Immigration Office by submitting the above Decree Conversion. The process of getting your Limited Stay Permit in Indonesia will take quite long time, it can take up to two or three months. During this time, YOU WILL NOT HAVE YOUR PASSPORT and of course, you will temporarily not be able to go abroad, open a bank account, or obtain a local driving license. Please remember to have a copy of your passport with you at all times.

 

Extension KITAS Application 

Extension KITAS Application can only do when there is a new student permit from the Department of Education to apply for KITAS extension. The students must submit the following documents at least four (4) months before study permit ending:

  • Photocopy of KITAS
  • Photocopy of passport (including pages Permits extension)
  • CV
  • Photocopy of the Study Permit
  • Letter of Statement (students will not work and not join any political activities while studying in Indonesia)
  • Photographs (passport size) 3×4 and 4×6 (2 pieces each, red background)
  • Signs Letter Report on Police (STM)
  • Health certificate
  • Photocopy of Student Card
  • Photocopy of the Last Transcript
  • Letter of application and guarantee from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta
