University of Glasgow Visits UMY

One of the  oldest and best University in United Kingdom (UK) , University of Glasgow visited Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta on Thursday (09/27). Represented by Alvin Fahdi Firdaus as the International Recruitment Officer Indonesia, University of Glasgow visited UMY to held information session about continues programs and the insight of Glasgow.

Took place at UMY’s Mini Theatre Language Training Center, the agenda was opened by speech from The director of Office of International Affairs, Yordan Gunawan, as the representation UMY. Yordan expressed his gratitude towards this visitation, meaning that UMY has been noticed and acknowledged by many international institutions to give their information session to UMY’s student.

“It’s a great thing that we’ve been trusted by many institutions to give their scholarship information session, which means that they’re looking and waiting for UMY’s students to enter their universities, achieving something more beyond borders” he said.

Furthermore, the agenda was not only gave information about scholarship but also giving the insight about IELTS (The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the English language proficiency test for higher education. United Kingdom is one of many countries that require IELTS for foreign student. Therefore, IDP (International Development Program) Yogyakarta represents Ayu Ida to introduce and promote their program, offering student placement in UK.

This scholarship information session would like to give their real pictures about the ambience of the university. Therefore University of Glasgow also sent Wigu, master student from Indonesia, shared his own experience gaining the scholarship and his mastery in University of Glasgow. Beside, he also gave the participants the encouragement to make their dream to study abroad come true.

“I came from a small city in Central Java. I lived in a village. who thought that I will become like this? If I can reach all of these things, so do you” he encouraged.
