Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Welcomes University of Science and Technology Hadhramout to Establish International Partnerships
Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) welcomed a distinguished delegation from the University of Science and Technology Hadhramout Branch (USTY), Yemen, as part of an effort to deepen international ties in academia and scientific research. The meeting, held at UMY’s AR Fachruddin A Building, signals a growing commitment to fostering collaboration between the two institutions. Key figures from both universities were present, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, MP., IPM., ASEAN Eng., Rector of UMY, and Dr. Alawi Aidorus Al-Saqqaf, President of USTY Hadhramout Branch. They were joined by Dr. Munir Ahmed Muhammad, USTY’s Assistant Rector for Centers and Student Affairs, and Mr. Saeed Saleh Bahfi, USTY’s Administrative and Financial Manager, alongside other esteemed guests.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Gunawan expressed gratitude for the visit, highlighting the significance of international partnerships in advancing both academic and research endeavors. “We are honored by USTY’s visit. This meeting is a crucial step toward establishing a strong foundation for future collaboration,” said Prof. Gunawan. He emphasized the importance of expanding global partnerships, particularly with institutions in the Middle East, as part of UMY’s strategic vision for the future.
Dr. Alawi echoed these sentiments, thanking UMY for its warm hospitality. He expressed enthusiasm for building stronger ties with the Indonesian institution. “We look forward to working closely with UMY, especially in areas of academic cooperation and scientific research, which will greatly benefit both universities,” Dr. Alawi stated. The visit marks the beginning of a promising partnership, with both universities keen to explore joint projects and initiatives in the near future. As part of this ongoing collaboration, UMY and USTY aim to enhance their academic offerings, encourage student exchanges, and promote joint research that addresses pressing global challenges.
