Yogyakarta, Indonesia — In a move that seeks to deepen academic and research collaboration, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (UNIMMA) officially annulled their previous Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and, in a significant ceremony, signed a new MoU and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).
The signing event, held at the UMY Student Dormitory Building, brought together key figures from both institutions, including UMY’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, MP., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and UNIMMA’s Rector, Dr. Lilik Andriyani, SE., M.Si. Their presence, along with several notable guests, underscored the importance of this renewed commitment to academic collaboration.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Gunawan expressed both gratitude and optimism, acknowledging UNIMMA’s participation in this pivotal moment. “We hope that the cancellation of the old MoU and the signing of this new agreement are not just administrative formalities, but catalysts for meaningful and equitable collaboration. Specifically, we look forward to substantial progress in the cooperation between UMY’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and UNIMMA’s Faculty of Health Sciences,” he said.
Dr. Lilik Andriyani, Rector of UNIMMA, echoed this sentiment, thanking UMY for the warm reception and emphasizing the significance of the ongoing partnership. “Our visit to UMY today is part of the follow-up discussions between our respective faculties regarding the existing MoU. We eagerly anticipate the outcomes of this partnership and hope for flexibility in the forthcoming MoA, which will further shape our academic ties,” she remarked.
This newly signed MoU and MoA, aimed particularly at fostering collaboration in health sciences, is expected to lead to concrete joint ventures in education and research, benefiting not only both institutions but also the wider academic community.
