Universidad de Granada Delegation Visits UMY to Strengthen Academic Partnerships
YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia — Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) is broadening its academic horizons through a strategic partnership with Spain’s Universidad de Granada. This collaboration promises substantial opportunities for faculty and students alike.
The partnership, which has been strengthening since 2018, is marked by various joint programs, notably the fully funded bilateral IISMA initiative. Students receive comprehensive support through these exchanges, including living allowances, enhancing their academic and cultural experiences abroad.
Currently, 13 lecturers from UMY are either pursuing or have completed their PhDs in Spain, drawn by the country’s high-quality yet affordable education. This trend underscores the increasing appeal of Spanish institutions for Indonesian academics.
Evangelia Tzeremaki, a representative from the International Relations Office at Universidad de Granada, emphasized the institution’s rich heritage and academic prestige. Located in the culturally vibrant city of Granada, the university is one of Europe’s oldest and a favored destination for Erasmus+ exchange students. Tzeremaki highlighted the extensive research facilities and the valuable opportunities provided through the Erasmus+ Scholarship, reinforcing the university’s commitment to fostering international academic collaboration.
The recent meeting between the two universities focused on expanding these international ties, with a shared vision of promoting academic excellence and creating valuable opportunities for their respective communities. This ongoing collaboration is poised to enrich both institutions, paving the way for a more interconnected and academically robust future.
