UMY Fostered the Cooperation Relationship with Finland University.

In the morning of October 30th, 2017 the MoU signing ceremony between UMY and Finland University has been officially deployed. Attending the meeting, there were Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, rector of UMY, M.P., Prof Dr Achmad Nurmandi MSc, Prof. Dr. Eko Priyo Purnomo, M.Res., Ph.D, Dr. Suryanto, Dr. Mukti Fajar ND.SH.,M.Hum and Mr Yordan Gunawan .

At the meeting, Mr Pasi Kaskinen, MSc introduced briefly about Finland University and their education system. As Executive Vice President of Finland University, he explained “Finland University is the international education brand, and marketing and sales company of four leading Finnish research universities: the University of Eastern Finland, the University of Tampere, the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University. All universities are in the top 2% of global university rankings. He added, “Finland University provides worldwide the degree programs and professional development programmes of its member universities to individuals and institutions (universities, government ministries and agencies, foundations, companies). At the moment, Finland University is delivering programmes for customers based in South East Asia, China, Latin America and the Middle East.

UMY is represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eko Priyo Purnomo as General Director of Cooperation and International Affairs (CIA) , explained briefly about programs provided by UMY such as exchange students and staffs, research collaboration and conferences. After that, this discussion continued by Head of Cooperation and International, Mr Yordan Gunawan. In his presentation, he succinctly discussed about UMY’s development, since 1981 till today. Besides, Mr Yordan also shared about mission and vision of UMY, “We (UMY) is a modern movement and our mission is to be reputable university in 2020”.

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, MSc expressed his gratitude to Mr Pasi for willing to have Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UMY. He also mentioned his desire to develop a cooperative program in training and scientific research between UMY and the Finland University in general and in various aspects in particular will develop steadily in the near future.
