UMY Expands Global Partnership with IUTeT to Strengthen Entrepreneurial Focus
Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) has taken a strategic step to enhance its commitment asa an entrepreneurial university by establishing an innovative international partnership. On Saturday, March 22nd, UMY signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan (IUTeT) at the Main Meeting Room, AR Fachruddin A Building, 5th Floor, UMY’s integrated campus. The MoU and MoA were officially signed by UMY’s Vice Rector for Quality, Reputation, and Partnerships, Ir. Slamet Riyadi, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., and IUTeT Rector, Prof. Asrorzoda Ubaidillo Sattor.
Slamet Riyadi expressed that his international collaboration with IUTeT is a vital step in reinforcing UMY’s goal to be an entrepreneurial university with a global outlook. He believes the partnership will have a profound impact on advancing higher education globally. “In our strategic planning, UMY is committed to becoming an entrepreneurial university with a robust international perspective. Therefore, we believe that the opportunity to collaborate in education, research, and innovation with IUTeT will significantly contribute to the development of tourism, entrepreneurship, and academic excellence between Indonesia and Tajikistan,” Slamet stated in his remarks.
Additionally, the signing of the MoU not only reflects UMY’s diplomatics efforts but also serves as a collective move to bridge knowledge, foster cultural understanding, and promote innovations that can benefit the global community. “With this positive first step, we hope to the further cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among our universities and students through various programs initiated by both parties,” he added.
Prof. Asrorzoda Ubaidillo Sattor, the Rector of IUTeT, mentioned several collaborative programs that have already been graded upon, including student exchange activities, visiting professors, participation in conferences hosted by UMY’s and IUTeT, and collaborative research. “The various programs we have initiated and will implement as a follow-up to the MoU are expected to advance education in tourism, entrepreneurship, and other fields of study, “he explained.

Azrorzoda also highlighted that while IUTeT is reowned for its focus on tourism and entrepreneurship, the university offers a wide range of academic programs in areas such a social sciences, economics , law, and more. “Therefore, the UMY-IUTeT partnership will provide a collaborative network with a broad reach, offering benefits not only in entrepreneurship but also across various academic diciplines,”he concluded.
