International Dental Summer School (IDSS) is organized by Dental School of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta. The program is combining Educational and Social activity. The aims of IDSS are to broaden student’s knowledge in Public Health Care in Indonesia and also to let international students gain clinical experiences especially during Dental Voluntary Work. IDSS allows participants to perform subjective and objective examination, diagnose, and treatment in Modified Problem Based Learning System

[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”International Tropical Medicine Summer School (ITMSS)” style=”fancy”] International Tropical Medicine Summer School is a short period educational program which stands especially in tropical medicine. It held firstly in 2005 namedITSS (International Tuberculosis Summer School) which is the first Medicine Summer School in Indonesia. To develop variety of topic and result an experience of boarder learning, it has developed into 3 main topic; Tuberculosis, DHF, and Malaria since 2006 and has changed its name become International Tropical Medicine Summer School (ITMSS).

TB, DHF and Malaria are chosen because of their high prevalence in causing mortality in Indonesia and also causing cross infection to the traveler. Based on that fact, TB, DHF and Malaria have a wide effect not only in health issue, but also in social and economic issue.

ITMSS is dedicated for all medical students and fresh graduates’ doctor worldwide, with level of tropical medicine knowledge varies from none to beginner. ITMSS held formal and informal education concept combined with leisure activities and also it offers student to experience of cultural learning of magnificent Indonesia. Educational program is set up becoming lecture, tutorial, practicum, skills lab, plenary discussion, hospital/primary health care centre visit, field study and community work. All educational activities will be delivered by the expert and/or the practitioner in its field. Leisure activities are set up to make a closer relation among each student and committees. It’s offered in international dinner, ITMSS exhibition, social program (tourism object), dance training, welcome party and also farewell party.

Through this entire program, hopefully the students can interact and work together with professional lecture which compatible in their field, get more information about tropical disease and also experience many fascinating travel and a memorable Indonesian cultural learning.

The number of manuscripts, curricula, and initiatives that grapple with some strand of peace education is increasing. However a dearth of critical and cross-disciplinary that examine peace education in conjunction with war and conflict still an open question. Education about and against war therefore is important to provide a comprehensive understanding about war and peace, as pivotal notion to established a democracy. Based on the spirit to educate society Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta and Perdana Global Peace Foundation initiate to establish an International School on Global Peace and Conflict Resolution with the name of Mahathir Global Peace School.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Perdana Global Peace Foundation (PGPF) established an International School on Global Peace and Conflict Resolution which is promoted with the name of Mahathir Global Peace School (MGPS). The school was launched by YABhg Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad on 3rd June 2013, at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.

This School is designed to enable students from diverse cultures and backgrounds to attain a deep understanding of the central issues of peace and security, which will determine the future of humanity. Through their coursework, participants in the programme will broaden their base of knowledge and engage with the major concepts, themes, and debates within international peace and conflict studies, preparing themselves for work with NGOs, governments, aid agencies, the UN and other organizations where a deep understanding of these issues is critical.

Natural disaster happens in every part of the world, and it’s a part of our life. The universe was created and will end by a disaster. Natural disaster is negligible when it does not give impact on human life. The theme ‘CARING THE WORLD’ is taken since the Disaster Management Summer School (DMSS) in the Faculty of Engineering in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) is brought to raise the awareness among university students around the world to care for each other. The DMSS is aimed to give the students some basic concepts on disaster management including the importance of understanding the disaster and its impact to humanity.

The students will give talk and discuss about common disaster in their home country and how to deal with it. In the spirit of togetherness the participants is expected to share the knowledge, and bring up the following:

  1. How to prepare for disaster
  2. How to help each other when disaster occur
  3. How to mitigate casualties
  4. How to break the language, culture and geographical barrier to care for each other

International Nursing Summer School (INSS) 2015 is an International program that organized by Nursing Student Union (HIMIKA), School Of Nursing, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Indonesia. INSS will combine education and non-education program which will prepare Nursing student in case Today’s global economy demands graduates with a global perspective.  Students will benefit greatly by developing their skill, knowledge and experience on problem based learning program, real case application, real community practice especially on diabetic combined with Islamic Value application which give students a new challenge about how to develop new evidence based practice on nursing. Participants also have an opportunity to present their research on The First Student Research Summer Meeting (SERUM)  which will be held on the last week of INSS. The opportunities to experience the rich culture of Indonesia are offered by INSS with two weeks program.

Welcome to ITFSS

International Tropical Farming Summer School (ITFSS) is an annual event organized by Agrotechnology Student’s Association (ASA) in Faculty of Agriculture, University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). ASA is non-political and non-profit organization. ASA produced the first Tropical Farming summer school in Indonesia which we called International Tropical Farming Summer School (ITFSS).

ITFSS is a unique summer school program combining the academic and student’s activities. The aims of the summer school are to broaden the students’ knowledge in the emerging tropical farming, able to solve tropical farming problem in the field, case study in the modified Problem Based Learning (PBL) system. ITFSS will be held at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta around the period of 1st until the 9th of December 2015.

ITFSS has two main Programs: Education and Non-Education Programs. For the Education Programs, the main topics are Tropical Agroecosystem,Integrated Farming System, and Renewable Energy. Participants will be given lecture by Local And International experts, discussions, fieldtrip, and tropical farming area visiting such as, Merapi Lands, Coastal area, and WindPower Plant. As for the Non Educational programs, participants will be able to do some leisure activities in Yogyakarta such as the Sultan Palace, Borobudur Temple visiting, Shopping at Malioboro Street, Rafting, and many more.

Throughout the program, participants will stay on Omah Dusun which are very close to University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta where ITFSS 2015 will be hold. This Homestay provide a natural view and concepts. Hopely, participants will feel comfort and able to know culture of Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta.

ITFSS offers an experience that cannot be forgotten. Something different that every agriculture student from all around the world should try.
