PT. Adaro Indonesia Partners with Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta to Expand Educational Opportunities for International Students
Yogyakarta, Indonesia – PT Adaro Indonesia took a significant step in advancing its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives with a visit to Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), where discussions were held to deepen the collaboration between the two institutions. The meeting, attended by senior representatives from Adaro, including CSR Department Head Zuraida Murdia Hamdie, CSR Section Head Diah Restu Lestari, and Finance Accounting Section Head Rosilawati, focused on Adaro’s flagship CSR programs. These efforts span five key areas: education (Adaro Nyalakan Ilmu), poverty alleviation (Adaro Nyalakan Sejahtera), health (Adaro Nyalakan Raga), cultural preservation (Adaro Nyalakan Budaya), and environmental sustainability (Adaro Nyalakan Lestari).

At the heart of the discussions was the role of UMY in Adaro’s vision for community development, particularly around the company’s operational sites. A moving highlight of the visit came during a special session with international scholarship students currently studying at UMY, a group that has directly benefited from Adaro’s commitment to education. These students shared heartfelt testimonials about how the scholarship program has transformed their lives. One student, speaking on behalf of their peers, expressed profound gratitude for the opportunities provided: “It is an honor to represent international students at UMY, where we are not only receiving world-class education but also learning the value of cross-cultural exchange. Through the Adaro scholarship, we have been given an extraordinary opportunity to enhance our skills and contribute to meaningful development in our home countries. The international students also highlighted the strong academic support they’ve received at UMY, including language courses that have helped them integrate into Indonesian society. They praised the university’s commitment to their success, citing the robust academic resources available, such as the library and e-resources, which have played a crucial role in their achievements.

In response to the aspirations of international students to continue their academic journeys, particularly in doctoral studies, PT Adaro reiterated its commitment to expanding scholarship opportunities. With the help of its CSR network, Adaro is working to secure additional funding for international students to pursue PhD, master’s, and bachelor’s programs. Zuraida Murdia Hamdie lauded the students’ academic achievements, with many maintaining GPAs above 3.5 and several attaining perfect scores of 4.0. “PT Adaro is thrilled with the academic success of our scholarship recipients, and we are excited to support their further studies. Education is a powerful tool for progress, and we are committed to expanding opportunities for international students to contribute to development in their respective countries,” she said.
