Yogyakarta, Indonesia — The Office of Cooperation and International Affairs (OCIA) convened a gathering for recipients of its Sabbatical Leave and Visiting Professor (SLVP) grants, signaling the university’s continued effort to expand its international footprint. The event, held at the Graduate School Director’s Conference Room, marked a significant milestone in UMY’s push for global academic engagement.

For the current academic year, OCIA has awarded Sabbatical Leave grants to nine faculty members and welcomed three Visiting Professors. The initiative is central to the university’s broader strategy of elevating its study programs on the world stage. Opening the event, Fitri Arofiati, S.Kep., Ns., MAN., Ph.D., head of OCIA, underscored the critical role of the SLVP program in supporting the university’s international ambitions. “The SLVP program is key to positioning UMY’s study programs among the most competitive globally,” she said.

Fitri Arofiati also stressed the importance of meticulous planning for the Visiting Professor Program, noting that a well-defined agenda and timeline are essential to meeting the university’s internationalization targets. “A clear roadmap is vital to ensure the success of these efforts,” she remarked. Additionally, Fitri Arofiati reminded participants of the need for timely and comprehensive reporting on SLVP activities, which she said would be crucial for measuring the impact of the programs and refining them in the future. With this initiative, UMY reaffirms its commitment to fostering academic collaboration on a global scale, striving to make its mark as a leading institution in international education.
