Follow-Up Discussion on Tri Dharma Cooperation During Visiting Professor Mike English’s Visit to FKIK UMY

Yogyakarta — The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held a Follow-Up Discussion on Tri Dharma Cooperation During Visiting Professor Mike English’s Visit in Meeting Room 1 of FKIK UMY. This event was part of FKIK UMY’s initiative to strengthen academic and professional collaboration with the University of Oxford. The event began with an opening speech by Dr. Sri Sundari, M.Kes, Dean of FKIK UMY, who warmly welcomed Professor Mike English. “We deeply appreciate your visit to Yogyakarta, especially to UMY,” she said. Dr. Sundari also expressed her hope that this visit would mark the beginning of a fruitful collaboration in research and community service between the two institutions.  

Following the opening remarks, Dr. Supriyatiningsih, M.Kes., Sp.OG, delivered a presentation on the Visiting Professor program, highlighting the ongoing Tri Dharma collaboration between UMY and the University of Oxford, particularly in the development of hospital facilities and joint research opportunities.  The event’s keynote session was delivered by Professor Mike English, the Visiting Professor from the University of Oxford. In his presentation, Professor English provided an overview of the University of Oxford, mentioning its remarkable faculty of over 600 professors and its extensive academic programs. His insights offered valuable perspectives on the standards of excellence and potential international collaboration opportunities.  

After completing his presentation, Professor Mike English was interviewed about his impressions of being in Indonesia. “I am extremely happy to be here,” he expressed, sharing his enthusiasm about his experience in the country. He also commented on UMY’s Visiting Professor program, describing it as an excellent initiative. “This program is very useful for understanding the research and studies conducted in Indonesia,” he remarked during the interview. This discussion is expected to serve as a solid foundation for strengthening cooperation between FKIK UMY and the University of Oxford in advancing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in education, research, and community service.
