Bukidnon State University Visits UMY, Paving the Way for Sustainable Collaboration
YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia — A delegation from Bukidnon State University (BukSU) visited Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Tuesday, January 21, to formalize and deepen ties between the two academic institutions. The visit, marked by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focused on fostering collaborative opportunities in education, curriculum development, and research dissemination. The BukSU delegation included prominent academic leaders, such as Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, president of Mathematics and Governance Studies; Dr Hazel Jean M. Abejuala, vice president for academic affairs; Dr Lalevie C. Lubos, dean of the College of Public Administration; and Dr. Ma. Algeria Cuenco, dean of the College of Nursing. Representing UMY was its rector, Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc.
In his opening address, Prof. Nurmandi expressed his aspirations for the partnership, calling it a pivotal moment for advancing educational quality at UMY. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to fostering academic excellence and institutional growth,” he said. “It is my hope that today’s agreement will serve as a benchmark for future improvements in education at UMY.” Speaking on behalf of BukSU, Dr. Mirasol echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the university’s dedication to building sustainable partnerships. “We view this collaboration with UMY as a significant step toward creating lasting and impactful cooperation between our institutions,” she remarked. The visit also included discussions on implementing the newly signed MoU, reviewing academic curriculums, and exploring opportunities for joint research initiatives. The meeting signals a commitment from both institutions to foster long-term partnerships that advance shared goals in education and research.
