Thousands Visitors Visits Taiwan Higher Education Fair 2017 in UMY

University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) successfully held Taiwan Higher Education Fair for the first time. The event, which was collaborated with Asia University, Taiwan, was held at UMY Sportorium Building on Thursday (14/12) and attended by 23 Taiwan universities. This is a good opportunity for students and also students of Special Region of  Yogyakarta to add information for those who are interested to continue their education at a higher level. The exhibition which was attended by more than 3000 visitors mostly are student  of all over  Indonesia  is planned to last for 2 days until Friday (15/12).

This is as stated by the Rector of UMY, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P, when giving a speech during the opening of the exhibition. “The technological advances that we feel today have changed the world a lot, and we do not have to go far to see the evidence. Taiwan is one of the developed countries in Asia. This includes the education system they have, from 23 higher education that participated in this exhibition 16 of them even entered in the ranks of 500 top universities of the world, “said Gunawan.

In addition to Asia University Taiwan, the event is also supported by the Taipei Economic and Trading Office (TETO) which has often worked with UMY before. “UMY has worked with TETO even since 2004, especially in exchange of students from both UMY and from various Taiwan universities. This established relationship is further strengthened with TETO’s support of the establishment of Taiwan Education Center (TEC) which will be the center of information for the public regarding the various facilities offered by the universities in Taiwan, “Gunawan said.

“Includes information on various scholarships and mentoring that can be utilized to reduce the burden of tuition fees if interested in continuing education to Taiwan. We strive to engage in concrete activities and produce concrete results together first rather than start by merely signing the MoU. In fact, we do it with people-to-people like holding joint research programs. It is also our effort to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Taiwan and Indonesia, “Gunawan said.

On the other hand, Jeffrey J.P. Tsai as president and representative of Asia University Taiwan said that this exhibition also becomes a good opportunity for Taiwan to introduce their education system. “This is a good moment for Indonesian students to get the best quality education we offer. I would like to invite all visitors who are present here to visit the booth share to check whether you need to be in one or more of the colleges we offer. This is important because you are the future of this country and getting the best and proper education is your initial capital to build Indonesia and fulfill your duty all, ” closed Jeffrey.
