UMY participates in Program Melayu Day-6 at Songkhla, Thailand

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, represented by Yordan Gunawan as Director of Office International Affairs, and dr. Farindira Vesti Rahmasari, M.Sc. as Head of Administrative Cooperation, and other five Indonesian universities such as Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof.Dr.HAMKA (UHAMKA), Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (UNISMUH), Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari (UMK), Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), and Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) participate in the Pentadbir Meeting Universiti Dunia Melayu, at Dewan Utama Majelis Bandaran, Yala Province, Southern Thailand (8/2).

This 3-day series of agenda was started on 8 February to 10 February 2019. Besides welcoming speech by Governor of Yala, Consulate General of Republic Indonesia, Consulate General of Malaysia, Mayor of Yala, and Ministry of Thailand, there are art performances from Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia.

In its higher education and international affairs, Muhammadiyah has established cooperation with Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. In particular, Thailand has accepted approximately 100 students originated from Higher Education of Muhammadiyah.

“On behalf of Muhammadiyah, we are thankful for the establishing cooperation with Malaysia and Thailand, hopefully we will have a better future-cooperation. Moreover, many academicians from Muhammadiyah higher education have also taught in Yala” said Muhammad Samsudin, Secretary of Board of Higher Education and Research Development (Majelis DIKTILITBANG), Central Board of Muhammadiyah.

In Malaysia, cooperation has been established with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Islam Sultan Zainal Abidin (UnisZa) Kuala Terengganu, Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Dewan Sastera, and Pustaka Melayu. At the same time, the cooperation with Thailand higher education, there are Prince of Songkla University (PSU), University of Pattani, Thaksin University (TSU), Princess of Naradhiwas University (PNU), Yala Rajabhat University (YRU).
