Pre-Departure Orientation 2019

Pre-Departure Orientation 2019 held by the Cooperation and International Affairs (CIA) Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Thursday (10/1) in Amphitheater Room, Kasman Singodimedjo Building. This program is a routine agenda that supposes to give any material regarding the pre-departure preparation for students whose take exchange student program to the UMY’s University Partner.

Pre-Orientation Departure was attended by 54 selected participant students through prior selection. There are six study destinations including Malaysia, Taiwan, Spain, Thailand, South Korea, and China. Respective program will be started in February 2019 for one semester. Even though the number of students decreased, it was adjusted with the University Partner’s quota. There were 119 students in fall semester 2018 distributed to five countries, Taiwan, South Korea, China, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Nevertheless, the number of outbound students from exchange program, short course, and international community service peaked more than 200 students. Whereas, there were 104 inbound students coming from United States, Netherland, Malaysia, China, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Romania, Slovakia, Czech, and Egypt. The UMY outbound students seemed enthusiastically increasing from time to time which have been proven by the number of applications from various departments.

Besides, there are 14 inbound students applied for numerous programs such as student exchange and internship program coming from Malaysia, China, and Thailand for academic year 2018/2019.

Pre-Departure Orientation also provides students to have sharing-session with the alumnae for practical discussion and preparation related with administrative and others groundwork prior the departure of studying abroad. (mmi)
