Palestinian Ambassador visits his counterpart

On Tuesday 10th February 2015, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta obtain a privileged to welcome Palestinian Ambassador Mr. Fariz Nafi’ Atieh Mehdawi. During his visit to UMY, Mr. Fariz delivered a message and discuss with the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Prof. Bambang Cipto, MA.

The ambassador said that Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta plays an important and strategic role in favor of the Palestinian cause. Meanwhile, the support from Muhammadiyah giving Palestinians power of struggle to strive their lives in Palestine. ‘I thank to all Indonesian people that always be our brother to support Palestine in terms of educational development’ said Mr. Fariz Nafi Atieh Mehdawi.

In a related development, the Rector Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Prof. Bambang Cipto MA ordered the formation of a committee to support the students from Palestine that will pursue their education in Yogyakarta, the university will establish the Indonesian Language Center for Palestine students in order to give them basic education of Bahasa Indonesia and introduce Indonesian culture in general.

‘There were four students this year from Palestine and we are pleasant to have strong relations with Palestine and strengthen the number of cooperation in terms of education’ said Indira Prabasari Ph.D as a Director of International Relations Office. In addition, the welcoming of Palestinian ambassador also attended by Mr. Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, Ph.D as a Vice – Rector III, Mr. Ir. Nafi Ananda Utama, MS as a Secretary of the University, and Ratih Herningtyas MA as the Head of Public Relations and Protocol. (RZ)
