Ministry of Education Malaysia Desires to Open Muhammadiyah University in Malaysia

Datin Paduka Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir, Head Director, Higher Education Department on behalf of the Ministry of Education Malaysia visits Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) represented by Rector and Vice Rector of UMY, Dr. Ir Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P, Dr. Sukamta, S.T., M.T., and Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc and also Executive Director of Cooperation and International Affairs (CIA) Eko Priyo Purnomo, M.Res., Ph.D, on Wednesday (23/1) at Ruang Sidang Rektorat, A.R. Fachruddin A building discussing on Ministry of Education Malaysia’s interest to open a new Muhammadiyah university in Malaysia.

This meeting that was arranged by the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta. The Ministry of Education Malaysia was also visiting two other universities; Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta and Universitas Ahmad Dahlan.

“To follow up the communication with one of the rectors of Muhammadiyah universities, I wanted to take an action to communicate with these universities” said Datin Paduka Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir.

During the discussion, Rector and Vice Rector of UMY explained the UMY’s international collaboration and cooperation with many other universities including Malaysia that has total 25 of MoU and MoA.

Universiti Putera Malaysia representative which attends this meeting also presenting its program and university in general that the scheme of scholarship and research grant with other international universities can be a great opportunity to do joint research with UMY. (mmi)
