In Reinforcing the Collaboration on Student Mobility, Rector of UMY and Team Visited Hirokawa Enath Company

Hiroshima (9/10), Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto M.P, accompanied by Eko Priyo Purnomo M.Si., M.Res., Ph.D., as Executive Director of Cooperation and International Affairs and Yordan Gunawan as Director of Office of International Affairs visited Hirokawa Enath Company during his activity in the 5th Japan-Indonesia Rectors’ Conference from 9 to 12 October 2019 in Hiroshima, Japan.

Gunawan Budiyanto warmly welcomed by the President of Hirokawa Enath Company Shoichi Hirokawa, General Manager Watanabe Katsuko, Company Advisers Makio Uotani, and Huronaka Shoko. They explained the history and development of the company and visited several companies owned by Hirokawa.

Hirokawa Enath is a large company that copes foods, goods, oil, and gas distribution in Hiroshima. The company has good cooperation with UMY, especially with the Japanese Language Education Department. The group facilitates improving student’s ability to study the Japanese language in real experience.

Faculty of Language Education UMY has departed its students to have a fully-funded internship at Hirokawa Enath Company, Hiroshima, Japan. The students who successfully listed as the interns were Annisa Shofaya Rizki Pradana and Nur Kholifah from the Department of Japanese Education. These sophomores charged their internship days as the gas station employees and students at Hiroshima University.

In the end of the meeting, President Shouichi hopes that UMY can send more students to do an internship in Hirokawa in the future. (hnl)
