Haedar Nashir Encourages Muhammadiyah and Turkey Partnership

Monday, (25/11) “Muhammadiyah Visit Turkey” has started by visiting Yurtdışı Türkler Ve Akraba Topluluklar Başkanlığı (YTB) to fulfill the invitation from its President, Abdullah Eren.

In this great occasion, Dr. H. Haedar Nashir, M.SI. as the General Chairman of Muhammadiyah was introducing Muhammadiyah as well as recalling the well-established and sustain partnership between Indonesia and Turkey. He also reminded this relation which has been originated since 13th century must be strengthened and continued, especially from educational aspect.

“Ummah have to be a part of the civilization,” stated General Chairman of Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.SI. during his and Muhammadiyah delegates meeting with Indonesian Society in Turkey.

This event is one of the programs of “Muhammadiyah Visit Turkey” which was initiated by Ambassador Republic of Indonesia in Turkey, H.E. Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, Ph.D. Iqbal is one of prominent alumni of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. He also mentioned that Indonesia and Turkey’s relation main support system is coming from the citizens which is included Muhammadiyah.

The visit was started by meeting and signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Muhammadiyah and YTB on the Scholarship for Muhammadiyah Cadre who want to continue their studies in Turkey. President of YTB Abdullah Eren stated that Indonesia and Turkey have very good historical blood tie, aside from culture and religion.

The delegates was followed Secretary of Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Dr. Agung Danarto, Chairman of Council of Higher Education and Research Development, Prof. Lincolin Arsyad, Ph.D, Secretary of the Council, Muhammad Sayuti, Ph.D with 12 Rectors of Muhammadiyah Universities, among others: Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta, Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA – Jakarta, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang, Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang, Universitas Muhammadiyah Kupang aand Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur.
