Faculty Law and Economic Bussiness UMY signed MoU with National Cheng Kung University.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) is one of leading universities in Indonesia that has a motto “Young and Global” that currently having further cooperation with National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan. In order to realize the dream of becoming World Class University, UMY finally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) with National Cheng Kung University through Faculty of Law and Faculty of Economics and Business. This MoU Signing Ceremony was held on 8 of August in Ruang Sidang Direktur Pascasarjana, UMY.


Rector of UMY, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P in his speech mentioned that the corporation between UMY and NCKU can strengthen numerous aspects, especially in academic, faculty and program study. He said that “this agreement is a reciprocal agreement since UMY had signed the agreement in NCKU, Taiwan on July, 25, 2017. And this is such an honorable moment for UMY can collaborate through Faculty of Law and Faculty of Economics and Business with College of Social Sciences NCKU, Taiwan. So that I expect that this collaboration can give advantages for both institutions especially in improving the qualities of both universities”.

Regarding the MoU had proved by both parties, the implementation of this work in order to promote global understanding on educational collaboration, expand cultural interaction that last but not least support the activities among the students and faculty. Perhaps these partnerships bring the harmony to each other. There also discussed the specification of the activities which are student and lecturer exchange, research collaboration, seminar participation, academics seminar and etc. The agreement that has been agreed also has specific criteria that formed to give the advantages to both parties. For instance, for lecturer exchange, the lecturer should have the agreement and the assigns from the dean and the lecturer also should consider the duty of teaching and other works. Other than that, from academic assign, it also needs administration approval between universities. Hence, every semester, both universities should send the delegation for the exchange program with maximum ten students, two lecturers and two researchers every semester.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector for Academic and Students Affair of NCKU, Prof. Dr. Chin Fu Hung believed that both universities have similar in improving the qualities of education especially on the progress of nations. “UMY and NCKU are one of the leading universities in their respective countries, even in Asia. So that in cooperation both universities can mutually promote the advantages of each other, especially in the quality of college education. Therefore I hope this cooperation can be sustainable” He mentioned.
