Academic exchange agreement with Tokushima University
On June 2, Tokushima University concluded an academic exchange agreement with Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) of Indonesia. For many years, the Faculty of Dentistry has undertaken exchanges with UMY, and based on this, the universities decided to conclude an agreement with a view to expanding the exchanges to include the faculties of Medicine and Engineering.
Rector Bambang Cipto and President Susumu Kagawa signed the agreement at a ceremony at the University Administration. In informal talks afterwards, they discussed student and researcher exchanges and joint research.
Before the signing, the visitors divided into two groups to visit the university hospital and Faculty of Engineering. At the university hospital, after meeting Hospital Director Natsuo Yasui, they toured the Type 1 Infectious Disease Ward and other facilities. At the Faculty of Engineering, the group called on Dean Yasuhiko Kawamura followed by visits to the departments of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, touring the laboratories and exchanging views on the JABEE (Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education) accreditation system.
